I’m being generous and doing 3 stars since Google doesn’t allow half star reviews. I find this theater frustrating. On the one hand, the staff is extremely friendly and welcoming and do a good job of keeping the theater clean. The Angelika “pop-up” offers a nice slate of both new and rerun movies. The theater I frequented as a child did not have stadium seating, so I’m at peace with the lack of it here. This is where the good things sort of end. I find the projector is not great. Many of the seats have loose arm rests, and can result in spilled drinks as happened recently. The lack of a soda fountain, and the gall to charge 6.75 for a bottled soda is infuriating. Concessions cost way too much at this theater in general, and, while the price of a popcorn may be similar to that of a larger multiplex, the difference in size of a large is notable. Lastly, when are they going to stop calling this a “pop up?” It’s been there for at least 10 years. Minor quibble I know but it drives me nuts all the same. I still like this theater and try to consciously support other “cinemas” besides the big two, but would it kill them to get a soda fountain or at least charge a semi appropriate amount for the pops that they do sell?

This place is really cute but the theaters have very simple, no frills equipment and seating. The theater floors are completely flat so if anyone is sitting in front of you your view will be obstructed. My experience was fine since there were probably less than ten people in my screening. Join their rewards program for discounts.

Had a great time watching The Age of Disclosure at this theater (photo is a preview). Friendly staff, good popcorn, cheap tickets, and a full theater room. Overall great experience!

Every time I visit our DC office I have to visit this place. One of my favorite places in general. Unique, quaint, special. Such a great, independent theater to watch movies. The pop up design definitely makes up for, and adds something to the experience where they lack big multiplex amenities. Can't wait to go back again.

I really enjoy this theatre's specific film offerings, which is limited but what they do show is top-tier. The older facility doesn't bother me, the rude male employees serving refreshments are more of an issue for me (and why they lost a star at this location). I think the theatre is on-brand for an Angelika. They have half-off Tuesdays for members, $5 for matinees on Tuesday, which is nice if you're on a budget.
