My favorite place in the whole city! Every aspect of the Music Box is amazing. They have the best popcorn, they show amazing movies you won't find anywhere else, they stand on business, and they support local creators. You can see all kinds of stuff here: gorgeous 70mm film, new/upcoming movies with director Q&As, special screenings with live performers (like Rocky Horror shadowcasts, bands/orchestras playing over silent film soundtracks, and interactive showings), and even classics that still fill up the whole theater. The main theater is a beauty, and can seat 750 people, making sold-out showings a special treat to attend. Special shoutout to Dennis, the organist that plays before plenty of screenings. With a 3rd theater on the way, I wish nothing but the best for my favorite spot in all of Chicago!

This is my most favorite movie theatre in Chicago! It’s so homely, welcoming, and gorgeous! The stuffs are very friendly and helpful. Tickets are reasonable; move selection is exclusive. I love their late shows. If you are lucky, you might get a packet of leftover free popcorn 💃🏽🥹🤤.

Stepping into the main theater feels like being transported to another era, and the atmosphere they’ve preserved is absolutely unmatched. The staff is consistently kind, and you can tell they actually care about the films they’re showing, which makes the whole experience feel more personal. It would be nice if they updated their payment system to allow for tap-to-pay since I rarely carry my physical wallet anymore, but the real butter on the popcorn makes that minor hurdle worth it. Finding a parking spot nearby can also be a bit of a scavenger hunt on busy nights, so I definitely recommend arriving early to soak in the vintage vibes before the show starts. It’s easily my favorite place in the city to catch a movie.

I recently attended a candlelight concert at the Music Box in Chicago, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. The candlelight setup was incredibly beautiful and created such a warm, intimate atmosphere that made the entire evening feel special. The Metropolis String Quartet was amazing — they brought so much energy and talent to the performance. I loved hearing hip hop played on the violin; it was creative, fun, and honestly exceeded my expectations. They did a fantastic job blending classical instruments with modern music. The vibe was everything. I found myself dancing and singing along, completely caught up in the moment. It was one of those experiences where you can just feel the joy in the room. If you're looking for something unique, relaxing, and entertaining all at the same time, I would definitely recommend this concert. I’ll absolutely be back.

Super cool theater. Not super big. Slanted seating. Old school seats. Awesome vibes. Long lines for concessions but it moves fast. Super friendly staff. They don't have tap to pay, so make sure you have your card or cash on you. They use real butter.
