Iman DuBose a month agoMaybe it was because I went 4 on a sunny Saturday, but it was dead. There was only one person working the counter. (concession and ticket were combined) The theatre was fine, but I don’t think it was worth the price of admission.
A.T. Green 7 years agoI came here in Christmas morning for an 11:30 show. This is the only location in the Twin Cities area showing "If Beale Street could talk." the bathrooms were super clean, however they are in the second floor with no elevator in sight--making it a difficult trip for my 73 year old mother. The theater itself was clean and the sound quality, while not the best, was sufficient for this movie. There was a long line for both tickets and concessions. I can attribute that to it being a holiday. However, another employee came running down the stairs to help but ended up literally only taking 1 order before moving on. So much for great customer service. Parking costs are pretty similar to the rest of Uptown. We ended up paying $7 for the movie ticket and $10.50 for the parking costs (for 2-3 hours).
Jeffrey Truckenmiller 5 months agoLandmarks Lagoon Cinema ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I have never existentially gone here before BUT THE VIBES MAN THE VIBES. I watched the critically failed masterpiece Gili and it felt like my soul was being lightly rearranged by a raspberry-flavored existential wind. The seats hummed softly, approving my emotional suffering, and the popcorn seemed to nod in solemn agreement with the cinematic tragedy unfolding. I left questioning reality, the film industry, and my own choices, but in the best possible way. Five stars for making failure feel like a spiritual epiphany.
Rugby a year ago5 screens The Lagoon Cinema was opened February 17, 1995. The Lagoon Cinema is a five screen theatre that screens mostly independent and foreign language films. Miranda Priestly: Where are the belts for this dress? Why is no one ready? Jocelyn: Here. It’s a tough call. They’re so different. Andy Sachs: (snickers under her breath) Miranda Priestly: Something funny? Andy Sachs: No. No, no, nothing’s… you know, it’s just that… both those belts look exactly the same to me. Y’know, I’m still learning about this stuff, and uh… (giggles uncomfortably) Miranda Priestly: This… “stuff”? Oh, okay. I see. You think this has nothing to do with you. You… go to your closet, and you select… I don’t know, that lumpy blue sweater, for instance, because you’re trying to tell the world that you take yourself too seriously to care about what you put on your back, but what you don’t know is that that sweater is not just blue, it’s not turquoise, it’s not lapis, it’s actually cerulean. You’re also blithely unaware of the fact that, in 2002, Oscar de la Renta did a collection of cerulean gowns, and then I think it was Yves Saint Laurent, wasn’t it?… who showed cerulean military jackets. I think we need a jacket here. Nigel: Hmm. Miranda Priestly: And then cerulean quickly showed up in the collections of eight different designers. Then it filtered down through the department stores and then trickled on down into some tragic casual corner where you, no doubt, fished it out of some clearance bin. However, that blue represents millions of dollars of countless jobs, and it’s sort of comical how you think that you’ve made a choice that exempts you from the fashion industry when, in fact, you’re wearing a sweater that was selected for you by the people in this room… from a pile of “stuff.”
Jay Bone 5 months agoI paid for a ticket and received a portal. The popcorn here isn't just popped; each kernel is an exploded star, seasoned with the tears of forgotten muses. When the lights dim, the air itself becomes a thick, velvety silence, pregnant with the potential of a thousand alternate realities. I watched a rom-com and came out questioning the very fabric of linear time. The seats don’t just recline; they initiate a spiritual ascension. This isn't entertainment; it's a collective hallucination, and I, for one, volunteer to be perpetually hypnotized by its silver screen. Bring a blanket; you might be here for a few eons.
