Akshat 7 months agoI recently watched Joachim Trier’s Sentimental Value at The Independent Picture House in Charlotte and it was a great experience from start to finish. I’m grateful that this establishment that supports independent, foreign and arthouse cinema exists in Charlotte. Parking is super easy and there are a lot of spots outside the theatre. You can buy the tickets online and the check-in process is super easy as well. They check your tickets at the entrance and guide you to the respective auditorium. Interestingly, there are no seat assignments on the tickets, so you’re free to occupy any seat that you might find convenient. Popcorn is reasonably priced and butter option is available too. The acoustics inside the theatre are great too with the sound quality being excellent. In case you require some special accommodation, they can help you out. Staff is kind and polite. You can become a member of The Independent to support them. They keep having some special screenings with the directors and writers, which is also worth checking out. I’ll be back here soon.
James Hong a month agoOur social group went to a special viewing of a movie. This Cineplex has several theaters. The theaters have very comfortable stadium style seating. A good view from almost every seat.
Cynthia R 3 years agoVery cute theater, I have been wanting to come for the longest and finally had the chance to. My employee does movies in her free time, so I was fortunate enough to attend the premiere of her latest movie. I love the colors in the lobby, and the theater was very clean as well as the bathrooms. The theater snacks and drinks are the typical priced ones. They do have beer and wine for sale as well.
John Casson 11 months agoI went to the movies by myself. Here!s what happened. If you’ve never been to the Independent Picture House, you’re in for a treat. They don’t miss a detail. Ordered a soda, popcorn, and junior mints and ticket all at the concession stand, $20.85 total. Popcorn was fresh, soda was cold, and they asked me if I wanted my junior mints regular or from the fridge (nice touch). The theatre was packed, but the audience was polite and I was happy to see the movie begin when it was scheduled instead of endless commercials. The temperature was cool but not too cold, and the volume was not crazy loud. I thought I would look like a weirdo going by myself but that thought was eliminated when I noticed several other single patrons. The one thing that could be improved is the parking lot. It is too small for a multi-cinema theatre, but there was plenty of free street parking if you don’t mind walking a bit. Overall, great experience.
Ashley L. 3 years agoThis little theater is something to experience. It was my 1st time here as I went for a movie screening & was pleasantly surprised at this place. Now, it's in the middle of an industrial-looking area & one would not expect to find this here, so this leads me to believe maybe the area will be built-up in the coming years. The place was really clean (seems almost new) with adequate parking outside. The decor was welcoming & all film related of course. Staff seemed pretty cool. There looked to be only three theaters: a "micro" theater & two bigger auditoriums, let's say half the size of an AMC therater maybe. It's nice & quaint. The seats do rise up a few steps, but only so much so beware of sitting behind a taller person (they will block your view, that's the only reason I took a star off). The seats don't recline too much & are not heated, they are just regular cinema seats. The concessions are your normal popcorn, drinks, and candy. Not sure if alcohol was served, I didn't notice. It would be nice to have an ICEE machine there in the future & more options for concession snacks. The bathrooms were clean but take note that they are "All Gender Restrooms"- no male only/female only bathrooms and they seemed to be different sizes inside. Not sure if they rent their theaters out for private events, but it'd be super nice if they did because it's such a personal theater. All in all I'd come to see a movie here again.
