Well this was the strangest movie experience I've ever had by far. So my 83yr old mother wanted to see the Elvis Icon movie, so I purchased the tix about 3 weeks ago, and she was so excited. So we get there, get seated... then the manager comes into the theater and tells everyone that the movie has been canceled, another movie is going to play in that theater, and that we've been refunded, and we need to leave. This was absolutely mind blowing to everyone. One older lady had driven over 25 miles to see the movie, just to be told to leave, and that she would not be seeing the movie she has waited weeks to see. So after the initial shock of what just happened,I went to ask the manager what exactly happened... then he told me to get out of his face. I was not belligerent, or combative. I know how hard a customer service job is these days, and I was even saying that I know he's just following corporate orders...and that's when he told me to get out of his face. The amount of disrespect ESPECIALLY right after telling an audience of elders mostly that they basically wasted their time, and that their schedules mean nothing, and to get up and get out, without any REAL reason was just... extremely insulting, and highly irregular. Thank you AMC and Management for letting your corporate colors come shining through, and letting the great generation know just how little they mean to you

AMC theaters are significantly nicer than Regal theaters, I just wish there were more of them. The seating is good, and some of the theaters have reclining seating. And the concessions are also good with self serve, freestyle, soda, machines, and stations to get butter for your popcorn and condiments for hotdogs.

I had a good experience here. Saw a matinee movie in the IMAX theater, so it was not crowded. It had stadium seating and good audio, but no reclining seats. I have an AMC account and bought my ticket and food on the app prior to arrival. It was ready when I got there. The butter pump area was much better this time. The counter and floor were clean.

The review saying is clean are lying. We went on a Sunday. The people working on the concession looked tired that the girl cut me off when I was explaining myself. It was my first time here. I did not know I could self serve. Then we went into the theater room #8 it smelled musty or mildewy. Like wet carpet after it dries funny. The reclining chairs are awful and awkward compared to others places. They didnt feel that comfortable and it randomly reclined on its own for a second. Not sure why. But At least the restrooms weren't bad. But the place looks badly managed. I will never go this location again.

Note: this AMC location does not deserve a 1-star rating overall, I'm only giving it a one-star for the IMAX theater at this location. We, as the citizens of Austin and members of the general public, need to boycott the "IMAX theater" (I think it is theater #1) at at the Barton Springs Mall!!!! The only way they'll actually do something about this theater and renovate it the way it so desperately needs to be renovated is if we BOYCOTT THEATER #1!!! The Dolby theater experience (I think theater #2), is quite lovely, the sound is dynamic, the screen imaging is crisp and clear, and the seats are recliners and comfortable. The same goes for the "non-premium format" theaters at this location. Good experiences, good sound, good image quality, comfortable recliner seats. Search for reviews using the search term "IMAX" and a number of dissatisfied customers have let you know exactly what you need to know about this theater: 1.) ripped/damaged screen. 2.) Ridiculously uncomfortable seats that make your backside hurt after sending in them for about an hour (some of them are so worn out that the seat actually tilts slightly downward to the front so you have to constantly readjust to prevent yourself from sliding out of the seat. Also, seats are stained and gross. 3.) Emergency Exit sign lights up behind the screen can be seen through the screen during the entire movie. 4.) Incredibly small screen for "IMAX Format." It is the smallest IMAX screen in the state of Texas, it would not surprise me if it is the smallest IMAX screen in the United States, maybe even the world. 5.) sound quality is WAY below what you would expect if you have been to an IMAX theater that has been built or renovated within the past 15 years. 6.) NOT ENOUGH SOUND DAMPENING/sound muffling for this theater, you hear the sound from theater next door (I think the Dolby theater #2?) Listen AMC: I get it: it might be prohibitively expensive to revamp/upgrade an old IMAX theater. So, put in another Dolby like in theater #2 instead. Or Install a Laser theater like at tech ridge (I have found this to be a great format for movie watching!). Or just chamge it into a large screen "regular / non-premium" theater with comfortable recliner seating! What you cannot do: Continue to rip-off the general public and charge us exorbitant additional IMAX Fess for a theater that is old, broken down, uncomfortable, dirty, and completely ruins (some) of your customers' IMAX Experience. I will never buy a ticket for this theater #1 again... I will continue to go to movies in theaters 2 -14 at this location, but I'm not wasting my time or my money going to this IMAX theater (#1) anymore at this location and I suggest you do not either.
