I really like this theater- it’s very clean, nice recliner seats, helpful and attentive servers, delicious food. Went to a smaller screening but the screen quality and sound quality were top notch!!! Really crisp bright image quality and sound quality made the whole experience really fun (I like loud!). Definitely will be back!

‘Backrooms’ was scary; service was scarier. Let’s set the scene: Lake Highlands, Theatre 1, Row 8, Seat 11. I get to my seat 10 minutes early and notice the faux leather is mostly peeled off. Perhaps it’s a set piece from the post apocalyptic movie in one of the previews. Spooky! I order a double Ford’s and tonic on the app, only for the server to eventually come and tell me they are sold out. He says I need to re-order within the app, reassuring me I won’t be charged for my first gin misadventure. Why I need to re-order within the app when there’s a young man discussing my order with me already is beyond my understanding, but I acquiesce. My G&T eventually arrives: no ice, no tonic. Creepy! I’ve had the mozzarella sticks at Alamo many times. The ones I ordered come out next, and this time they are exceptionally terrible. “These are bad, right?” I ask my friend. He tries one and looks vaguely queasy from the not-fully-cooked cheese, echoing my own thoughts. “Do I hate cheese sticks now?”I think to myself. Jump scare! As the movie heads toward its climax, one of the servers begins loudly clearing plates and glasses. The clink-clink-clanking of the glasses adds a new element to the unnerving nature of the film. Atmospheric horror! Thank you, Alamo, for a jarring experience. Unfortunately, I don’t think my stomach can handle such experiential horror. I guess I’ll switch to AMC.

This Alamo Drafthouse is going downhill fast. When we go out to see a movie, we always choose Alamo for the nice chairs and their original chips and queso. Unfortunately, both are terrible at this location. The chairs are falling apart and look terrible. And when people recline during the movie they all make a loud mechanical sound, which is very disrupting. Lastly, the new beer queso is disgusting. Bring back the original queso! Why did you change it? After this experience, we’ll have to find another theater from now on. One star for the nice staff.

I love this theater. It is well maintained and has a great vibe. But with our last visit—seeing The Mandalorian & Grogu— the volume was SO loud I had to wear earplugs. Same for the rest of my family. And at the end of the show I noticed other people pulling Kleenex, etc out of their ears. I know it’s an amazing sound system, but it’s kind of defeating the purpose at that volume.

Love that this spot is local. Burgers were good. They were a bit backed up so took us awhile to get our drinks and food. And the charged us for 4 burgers instead of 2. The credit to rectify will apparently take a few days. Definitely check your food bill for correct purchase.
