A Fun Night Out at Alamo Drafthouse Richardson for Super Mario Galaxy I had the pleasure of visiting Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Richardson this weekend to catch the new Super Mario Galaxy movie, and it turned out to be a fantastic experience overall. First off, the theater itself continues to impress me with its unique atmosphere and commitment to creating an immersive movie-watching experience. The staff was friendly, and the pre-show entertainment always adds a fun touch that you just don’t get at other theaters. One of my favorite parts of the evening was the special movie milkshake tie-in. It was absolutely delicious—creamy, flavorful, and clearly crafted with care to match the theme of the movie. It’s always a treat when theaters go the extra mile to create menu specials that celebrate the film you’re watching. The popcorn also stood out with its range of fun flavors. Whether you like something classic or want to venture into more adventurous seasonings, there’s something for everyone. Unfortunately, not everything on the menu was a hit. The chicken tenders and fries were a bit underwhelming. The tenders lacked crispiness and flavor, and the fries were on the soggy side. While not terrible, they didn’t quite live up to the other food offerings we tried. As for the movie itself, Super Mario Galaxy was a blast! The visuals were stunning, and the story was engaging for both kids and adults. The theater’s sound and projection quality made the whole experience even more enjoyable. In summary, Alamo Drafthouse Richardson delivered a memorable night out. Between the creative menu tie-ins, great popcorn, and top-notch movie presentation, I’ll definitely be back soon—though I might skip the tenders next time! Highly recommended for anyone looking for a fun and unique movie-going experience.

It has been a while since I've been to Alamo. They have a new ordering app that I think needs work. It forces you to pay an 18% service fee AND they ask for gratuity on top. Then there's this timer that will close the app for ordering if you dont put it in on time. It made me feel rushed to make a decision. And if you want more food or drinks you cant order through the app you have to use the original paper method. I should have just done that to start. No 18% fee when you use paper. My wing flavor was wrong and the server just told me it was right vs taking it back to correct it. I didn't want to argue so I just ate the wings. The popcorn was so dry although I asked for butter. I used to love Alamo because of the food. Maybe it will be better next time.

Cute place with adult vibes. I ordered waters and a bar drink. The bar drink was good and strong. They did forget one water and there's really no way to signal your servers. We also had a wrap and the bbq chicken pizza. Both were casual dining good, a step up from movie theater good! The movie volume was a little loud eo sound was a bit distorted. All in all a good date night.

We have been coming to Alamo for 10+ years and drive from Rockwall (30 min) just because of the food, drinks and quality. Sad to say the quality is not what it used to be since they changed ownership to corporate. The food, which used to be the main draw for us, is terrible now. The queso is cheap processed cheese with no flavor like you would get anywhere else, and that was one of my favorite queso’s anywhere. The Carnivore pizza was my go-to, and it was awful. The toppings were different quality, barely any cheese (they now charge you for this extra), and the crust was so thin and soggy that everything fell off and into my lap. I ordered a club soda to drink, and had to wait a good 20min after my husband got his Liquid Death water before they brought mine- how hard is it to bring a glass of club soda? The 18% gratuity has been there for awhile BUT now that they’ve switched to the app and I have to order food myself, why am I forced to pay 18% for a food runner who has no interaction with me? Needless to say we won’t be driving out of our way anymore for such a negative experience. We can go to our local Cinemark and get the same. Do better, Alamo.

I used to love Alamo Drafthouse. One of my favorite events was a Masters of the Universe cereal bar event years ago with my kid. But this whole ordering through your phone thing literally disrupted the entire experience. Phones lit up around me on and off the whole time, and if you accidentally get away from the site, good luck scanning the qr code again in the dark. I lost several minutes of movie doing just that. I was just really taken out of the experience and disappointed at a place I used to really enjoy. Maybe it still needs some fine tuning, but I'll say I prefer the paper method.
