This place was definitely worth a visit. You can scan the barcode at your seat to order food, and they’ll bring it right to you. The interior of the theater was beautiful. The screen wasn’t very big, but it was perfectly fine. The staff were friendly.

4/23/2026* We were there to watch The Drama, and found out they had renovated their seats! The new seating is much more comfortable. You can order drinks and food using the QR code, and the staff will bring them over to your seat like what it used to be. 8/28/2025 It was my first time watching a movie at this theater, and it was really fun. You could order some light bites and drinks at your seat. Write down your selections and press the call button, and a staff member will come over to take your order. Like other people had mentioned, the seats were not that comfortable. For me I thought they were fine. It was a fun experience.

I have loved visiting Alamo theaters for years - we used to go when we visited relatives in Austin and we were thrilled when they opened a theater in San Francisco. We would go pretty often even though it takes us about 45 minutes to get there, and bought season passes soon after they came out. The whole experience has been downgraded so much since Sony bought them that it's not really worth the trip and the expense anymore. They used to have friendly servers to take your orders before and during the movie with an unobtrusive paper order card system. Now they force you to order on the phone even during the movie despite their policy of no phone use during the movie. The ordering website doesn't always work. Last night we tried to pay multiple times using two credit cards and it kept flashing a red error message. After we waited in line to talk to a staff member, he saw that it had been charging our card every time but telling us it didn't go through. They've also raised their already-high prices and cut the menu so there are no longer any healthy veggie options. The kale wrap and hummus wrap were great- and with the season pass, it was nice to have a healthy option. They recently installed reclining seats that are somehow less comfortable than the old ones and sound like mosquitoes buzzing during the movie. I feel so bad for all the employees who have to endure endless complaints on review sites and at the theater- they are great and we know they didn't choose this!!

Such a beautiful theater, the staff was awesome but the new QR ordering system is such a bummer. Having to use the phone during the movie really takes the rules and puts them aside.

This used to be my favorite movie theater and such a special experience. I was an Alamo pass member and would come at least once a week to see movies, from new releases to oddities and art films. But it's gone drastically downhill with recent changes, and I don't think I will be coming back anymore unless Alamo's corporate owners put an effort toward restoring the experience. Recent changes include: - Smaller menu with more expensive prices - Food items taste like cardboard and are often served soggy and cold. This has happened on 3 consecutive visits with 3 different food items: a burger with cold fries, cold mozzarella sticks, cold fried pickles - No more policing of the no talking and no phone use policy. You actually *have* to use your phone during the movie because it's the only way to order. I don't want to come to a movie and have to use a second screen! - Essentially no service anymore -- everything is mediated through an app. When your food arrives cold (trust me, it will) there is nobody to interact with to send it back - For that bad service, you *will* automatically tip 20%, because there is an unforgiving time limit to close out the check. And this most recent time I didn't even have an option to change the tip amount It's still a beautiful building, but the experience has degraded and the service is nonexistent. If it's going to just be another soulless theater chain there's no reason to come anymore, I'll go to AMC instead where the seats are more comfortable, the screens are larger, and I won't be let down by high expectations from past experiences that will no longer be met.
