I had a very uncomfortable experience at this cinema parking. The cashier asked me “Where are you from?” without explaining the reason, which confused me. When I said “I’m sorry” because I didn’t understand the question, she rolled her eyes at me. Later, she suddenly asked me to show my movie ticket to confirm whether I had just been to the cinema. I understand that checking tickets may be part of her job, but her attitude was unprofessional and disrespectful. I have been to this cinema many times before and was never asked to show my ticket in this situation. I also asked friends who work in the same industry, and they said this is not a normal practice. It is acceptable to check tickets if necessary, but the way she communicated—rolling her eyes and not explaining clearly—was inappropriate. Clear and respectful communication is basic customer service.

This theater feels very outdated and poorly managed. There were only two employees working concessions, and service was extremely slow. On top of that, the pricing and policies are unreasonable. I purchased a large popcorn and asked for the refill, but was told this location does not allow refills at the time of purchase. Instead, I would need to return later with an empty bag, and they would keep the original. This makes no sense—customers are essentially forced to leave their seats during the movie, wait in a long line again, and miss part of the film just to receive something they already paid for. It’s inconvenient and frustrating. What’s especially surprising is that this is the first Regal location I’ve encountered with such a policy. Every other location I’ve visited allows immediate refills, making this rule feel unnecessary and inconsistent. The auditoriums themselves are also in need of major updates. The seats are old, do not recline, and feel unclean. The floors are sticky, and the overall environment is uncomfortable. The surrounding area also feels undesirable, which adds to the negative experience. That said, I would like to specify that I place FULL responsibility on the company rather than the staff at this specific location. The employees can only work with the resources, policies, and conditions they are given. It’s clear that corporate decisions and lack of investment are the root of these issues. Overall, this theater is in clear need of improvement and modernization.

For the main Regal cinema in Honolulu, this place is a let down. The area around the cinema is a homeless camp, so I'm scared to walk outside the building. Of all the cinemas on island, this place still uses non-recliner seats. They're quite uncomfortable and feel a bit dirty from grime and sweat. The selling point of coming to this specific Regal on island is the "imax"/liemax theater, 4DX theater, RPX, and limited re-showing of old movies so that you can experience it in a movie theater setting. The imax theater I went into to watch the Conjuring Last Rites had a "Do Not Enter. Closed for cleaning" barrier up for the longest time. With the movie starting in 5 minutes, I decided to just walk in while another customer went to an employee at the concession stand about the barrier. When I entered the theater, turns out nobody was cleaning the theater space and the projector employee was playing/watching Jaws on the"imax" screen. A bit unprofessional. Unless there's a good old movie re-showing and it's only at Dole Regal, I think I'll just make the drive to Kapolei Regal. Nicer seats, screens, and audio setup. Update: Decided to give this place one more chance. Went to watch wicked for good and there were quite a few people. This guy was talking throughout the movie and wouldn't shut up! I shushed him, in which he shushed me back as if I was talking throughout the movie and ruining it for everyone. And they kept talking through the movie! I reported this to one of the workers and they did nothing! I swear this Regal is 0 for 2 now. I'll gladly take my business elsewhere.

Nice to have so many choices for movie formats in 1 place. Convenient free parking garage with validation. Everything was clean, and buying tickets on the app or website before allows you to walk right in. The rewards program helps get a couple of dollars off snacks also.
