This AMC theater is overall pretty good and definitely one of the better locations I’ve been to. The alcohol section offers a nice variety of options, and the staff is friendly and helpful, which makes the experience more enjoyable. The drinks are solid, and I like that there are enough choices to fit different preferences. One of the best parts is the seating—the seats have a warming feature, which makes them very comfortable, especially during longer movies. It really adds an extra level of relaxation that you don’t always get at other theaters. The only downside I noticed is that the restroom smells quite bad, which takes away a bit from the overall experience. Hopefully that’s something they can improve. Other than that, the location is very convenient and easy to get to, which makes it a great option if you’re nearby. Overall, despite the restroom issue, it’s still a good AMC location that I would come back to.

In addition to all the latest movies in the USA, This theater has the most international films shown of all the AMCs in the state of Illinois. You can see films that were amazing at the Cannes Film Festival from Spain, Korea, China, Japan, India, Ukraine, Portugal, France, Germany, etc. The seats are brand new and are so comfortable for your back. It’s not a dine in theater and I don’t care bc I don’t want to eat theater food. The only thing I would love are little tables at the seats for the popcorn. I don’t like to have popcorn pieces fall over to be polite. Love AMC and the movie popcorn deal is $29 per year for 50% off popcorn as long as you buy 6 per year. Great deal. And the large version is unlimited so for $5.39 you can share w the family and enjoy the movie!

The theater and seats were clean, and the picture and sound were excellent. However, the reclining seat wasn’t as comfortable as at other AMC locations I’ve been to. The pre-movie ads were very long, so a movie scheduled for 3:45 pm didn’t start until 4:15 pm. Overall, it's a clean theater with great audiovisuals and friendly staff.

AMC River East 21 is much more than just a movie theater. It's one of those places where you can easily turn a movie into an entire day out. The theater itself is excellent. The seats are comfortable, spacious, and recline so far back that if you're taking your kids to a movie they're excited about, you might find yourself accidentally taking a nap instead. The auditoriums are clean, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the overall experience is consistently enjoyable. The concessions are also better than average. The popcorn is always fresh, the food is surprisingly good for a movie theater, and service moves along pretty efficiently even during busy times. One thing I particularly appreciate is the movie selection. AMC River East often shows films that many other theaters don't, including independent releases, special screenings, and movies that can be difficult to find elsewhere. What really sets this location apart, though, is everything around it. With the bowling alley and arcade connected to the complex, plus countless restaurants within walking distance, there's always something to do before or after your movie. If you're looking for coffee or a treat, Paris Baguette is right down the street with great pastries and coffee. Between the entertainment, dining options, and the theater itself, it's easy to spend an entire afternoon or evening in the area. You must go to Robert's Pizza down the street, consistently rated one of the best pizzas in the country! Chicago has a lot of movie theaters, but AMC River East 21 remains one of my favorites because it offers the complete package. Great movies, comfortable seating, friendly staff, fresh popcorn, and an unbeatable location surrounded by things to do. Highly recommended.

We visited AMC River East 21 and had a deeply upsetting experience. When we arrived, a vehicle without a visible handicap placard was parked in an accessible space, making things more difficult for my disabled mother, who relies on a walker. After the movie, my mother struggled to use the QR code on the wall to validate parking because there was a box placed in front of it and several people standing in the way. During this process, she spilled her drink from her walker and became visibly upset. Rather than offering assistance, a group of three employees stood nearby laughing, whispering to each other, and mocking her while she was crying. When my mother asked to speak with a manager, one employee falsely claimed to be one before calling the real manager. Although one male employee did kindly offer to replace her drink, the larger issue is that these three employees believed it was acceptable to ridicule a disabled woman in obvious distress. The employee wearing a flower claw clip was particularly cruel laughing in my mother's face as she swept the ice from under her walker and blocked her path. My mother told her how fortunate she is to have the use of her legs at all, as public outings are already difficult for her. A 5’6-5’8 male employee with thick framed glasses laughed throughout the duration of the event with a much shorter unremarkable female employee and they went to the back to gossip some more. The lack of remorse for bringing a disabled woman to tears was astounding. We don’t get to go out as a family very often because of my mother’s mobility limitations, and what should have been an enjoyable evening became humiliating and heartbreaking. I was also disappointed that when the actual manager arrived, there was no apology, acknowledgment of the employees’ behavior, or attempt to address the situation. No family should have to endure this kind of ableist treatment while simply trying to enjoy a night out. Work on the conduct of your employees so that this doesn’t happen again.
